Bombing big time as Oscar Host.

I like him but he is just messing up as host.
So unfunny and really trying too hard for laughs.
I'm almost embarrassed for him.

reply

Almost? He is so painful to watch that I am cringing. I have never seen anyone as bad as him. I'm surprised this board hasn't lit up like a Christmas tree over him.

reply

Yeah, I don't know what the hell he's doing up there.

reply

Indeed. Probably worst Oscar host in history.

reply

Never thought I'd want to see Ellen again, but she was better than NPH tonight. He bombed big time.

reply

He was ill-suited to hosting the Oscars. He is more comfortable with the Tony Awards because he is well respected in the theatre community. The film community is more difficult - richer, stuffier and it's hard to gauge their mood.

The writing was terrible, and like a lot of hosts who are bombing he keeps at jokes and gags which are unfunny and it just becomes more uncomfortable. It's like watching an amateur stand-up comedian.

I can't believe how many people can't understand the elementary fact that he is following a script. It's like blaming actors stuck in a movie with poor dialogue because of a terrible script. Do you think he wrote the material he's stuck with, or is making it up as he goes along?? FFS people.

reply

Doesn't matter. Someone had to say no to this. He agreed to go on stage so the criticism is justified. The show was terrible, awkward, and the timing felt off. The jokes were lame as hell. God bless him, he won't be back.

Spider-Man is finally in the MCU, baby! Celebrate with me Web-heads! YEAH! 

I can't believe how many people can't understand the elementary fact that he is following a scriptThe hosts do not just follow a script. If the host is great and super talented, they know how to improvise when a moment presents itself. He wasn't funny and he's not good at off the cuff humour. He was over his head and out of his element at the Oscars. He made a major OFFENSIVE stupid joke about the woman with the pom poms on her dress..a woman who just won an Oscar for a film about suicide and was dedicating the award to her son that killed himself and he makes a Joke "It takes balls to wear a dress like that" thinking it was funny. It could have been funny if she had just not mentioned her dead son. That is not scripted. That is a poor attempt at humour and a very awkward moment.
