Apparently he clashed with Robert Zemeckis on BTTF constantly…when his only major credit before that was Friday the 13th: Part 4. It’s sad that Hollywood rewarded his strange and arrogant behavior instead of telling him to take a hike
Doesn't it go that way for a lot of actors? Many of them are difficult to work with but that's overlooked due to their talent. Now, lack of talent is a different story.
As for Glover himself, it actually seems like he had a lot of charisma before BTTF. Seriously, I saw old clips of him and something changed in between those timeframes
He did have a legitimate gripe with Zemeckis though...they replaced him with another actor and also used scenes with him from the first movie without his permission. They also used a mould of his face to create prosthetics for the actor who replaced him.
I personally think he was probanly badmouthed or blacklisted for going up against Zemeckis, Gale and Spielberg...and Universal.
Unpopular opinion here but I thought he overreacted in suing them over the prosthetics. Apparently it was illegal but honestly I don't see anything morally wrong with it. He gets mad that the ending of BTTF is about "money" but then sues them? Does he care about money or not? Lol. Seems a bit hypocritical. He complained that they didn't use the prosthetics for Jennifer, but he was a much more central character so honestly the action was understandable. I mean yes it is kind of a jerk move when you think about it but at the end of the day he's the one who started acting like a jerk. Why would you sign onto a film and later disagree about the script? Also, I'm pretty sure they actually did receive permission to use the archive footage, just not the face molds. Correct me if I'm wrong
I remember reading in sone actor's autobiography that the first actor he ever saw throw a star fit was Crispin Glover. They just thought it was hilarious and it was a good way for an actor to get his way, have some power on the set. However I think with Crispin he took it way too far I don't believe half the stuff he says I think what really happened is he like so many other actors, got too full of himself and it turned out he was his own worst enemy.
But his real career did end. If you see his Filmography it's only small movies nobody saw. Or some small role of side villain in Charlie's Angels (2000). He makes no money and no one knows him.
