'Wishful Drinking" and her other writings...

Anyone else seen or read "Wishful Drinking " or "The Princess Diarist" or any of her other books (plays or films)?

I've seen the film version of "Wishful Drinking", and although Carrie's self-absorption is off the charts, she's also funny and interesting and watchable. And I just finished "The Princess Diaries", which I liked overall. Her "recently rediscovered" diaries from the ANH shoot are frankly unbearable, but she became a much better writer with maturity and most of the book is her current self writing about Star Wars. Worth a look, for any Star Wars fan with a sense of humor, and yes, I realize that rules out a significant portion of the fandom.

I've read The Princess Diarist. I was surprised by the anecdote where she recalled almost getting kidnapped and gang-raped by British crew members during the making of Episode IV.

To say that she was being threatened with kidnapping and gang-rape is an exaggeration, the guys were just getting inappropriate and she was starting to feel uncomfortable. I seriously doubt they would have done anything that would endanger their jobs, but why worry when Harrison Ford is there and being manly?

They were, after all, trying to get her drunk. Harrison was certainly concerned about what their intentions were.

The Wishful Drinking show isn't my usual cup of tea, but since it was recommended to me by a good friend fifteen years my junior, whose cup of tea that sort of thing wasn't his either, we watched it one evening over some highballs and it was quite good. Good enough that I revisited it a few years later.

Can't comment on anything but that, but let it be noted that while I loved Star Wars as a kid in the first trilogy's theatrical run, it hasn't aged well for me after, say, my mid-thirties, so enjoyed her ribbing.

I read both Wishful Drinking and The Princess Diarist. Loved Wishful Drinking. TPD wasn't as good for me. She really is witty and can tell a story, and boy, she had some interesting stories to tell. Sure miss watching this little lady.

I’ve read Postcards From the Edge and Delusions of Grandma. Both were excellent. She was a very talented writer.
