It seems like he's content to make the same movie over and over again, the dark psychological thriller with emphasis on gritty urban drama.

Just for once, it would be nice for him to make a screwball comedy, or maybe war film. Or a feel-good road trip movie.

Then again, he tried his hand at romance in Benjamin Button, and fell all over himself. Maybe he should stick to his little niche.

Why do people want certain directors to be different than they are? People cry out that Nolan does the same movies, Fincher does the same, didn't Hitchcock do the same for crying ot loud?
Maybe they need to look for other movies and other directors.

Exactly right.

To the OP I especially like the part about doing a "screwball comedy" yes I want a Police Academy remake by Fincher! People are really stupid.
