David Fincher is probably one of the greatest directors of all time
And certainly in top 5 today (Fincher, Nolan, Tarantino, Martin S. and Spielberg)
shareAnd certainly in top 5 today (Fincher, Nolan, Tarantino, Martin S. and Spielberg)
shareAll of them suck and have sold themselves out. There are no good directors anymore.
shareLol, k.
shareDavid Fincher is my favorite director.
shareThose are some great directors, but too sold out/played out. You should check out David Lynch, Lars Von Trier, Gaspar Noe, Terrence Malick, and Wes Anderson.
shareAlso Todd Haynes.. He's my favorite along with Fincher
shareI would add Darren Aronofsky and Denis Villeneuve add as well
shareLMFAO, one of the greatest of all time?!?!?! nolan tarantino and spielberg dnt even make that list.
fincher is barely in the top 5 today, his last 4 movies have not been very good.
have you ever even heard of or seen a film by Antonioni, Kubrick, Bergman, Cassavettes, (Lynch, Von Trier and Malick like someone else stated), Rossellini, Fellini, Truffaut, Zulawski, Kieslowski, Gavras or Haneke ? These are some of the greatest directors of all time.
fincher is a decent filmmaker at best who had 2 or 3 excellent films come out in the 90s. Then arguably a masterpiece in 2007 (Zodiac) which was unfairly ignored. but from ben button until now nothing i have seen has impressed me in the slightest other than the awesome trent reznor scores in the past 3 films.
I thought The Social Network was fantastic and I enjoyed Girl w/ Dragon Tattoo, but I haven't seen the original. He has been on a bit of a lull recently and probably isn't a Top 5 director right now, but I'm not sure who I'd put in there. Villenueve is probably up there now.
