Favorite Film Score?

For me, it's a tie between Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Batman.

His work on Batman has ruined all future attempts to create music/theme for the Dark Knight. Nolan's films found a soundtrack that work, but no track there matched Elfman's main theme...

That said, I want to give a shout-out to two others...

I think The Nightmare Before Christmas is my actual favourite Elfman soundtrack. It's just so wonderful. It's memorable, singable, infectious, fun, and eerie. It perfectly suits the film, and there's so much in the songs that they almost tell the story by themselves - that's excellent stuff!

But also...Hellboy 2. Hellboy 2 really impressed me because Elfman took another composer's work and carried on that legacy into the new film. "Danny Elfman did the music!?" I remember being surprised because it didn't sound anything like his usual stuff. Of course not. He wasn't trying to egomaniacally stamp it, he was doing his job right. Hats off, Mr. Elfman!
