No Love?

Does nobody else love this woman? When I was unemployed I looked forward to the daily 2 hour time-slot allocated to Judging Amy. Yes, a bit "needy" at times but I fell in love with her. (Full disclosure, I thought it was great when her sister-in-law, Gillian, made a statement to the effect "Nobody so skinny should have such a nice rack" after a night of the two drinking, so I do find her [Amy] quite attractive).

I also loved her character in Heat. I never cared for David Caruso so her fling with him in NYPD Blue was unfortunate but she was good. She makes watching 88 Minutes worth it.

I regret I never watched much of The Leftovers. Perhaps someone else can expound on this.

IMDB has her uncredited as an angel in "City of Angels"; I'll have to watch again :)

She's had a kind of surprising durability later in her career, especially for an actress who could have mostly been written off as a very minor film actress with some network TV success. The Leftovers, a season of Goliath and Tell me Your Secrets have given her a lot of new momentum she might not otherwise have considering that Private Practice was a larger ensemble cast and ended 8 years ago. Really, the only thing missing from her career is a feature slot on a season of Fargo.

She's attractive, but no so attractive that I think she could have made a career trading on sex appeal, so I think she's largely where she's at for her acting chops. I will say she looks good for 57, which probably doesn't hurt her appeal these days.

Overall she seems to be doing well, especially given the general shortage of significant roles for women in their 50s (or older). That is not an easy road.
