His appearance caused a mixed reaction from fans - many taking issue with it, claiming the skit cast the returning star in a favorable light.share
'Why is Alec Baldwin being allowed on SNL? He shot and killed someone on a movie set,' one Twitter user wrote, citing 'safety compromises' that led to the fatal shooting of Hutchins on the set of Baldwin's film Rust in October 2021.
'Omg, an actual murderer jokingly talking about murder on #snl,' sniped someone else.
'Thanks for convincing the world how moronic and out of touch you are.'
'We know that Alec Baldwin shot and killed someone, right?' added another, years after the 30 Rock actor came under scrutiny for being the one who fired the gun.
After a sketch that saw Baldwin and Rudolph relentlessly mock Harris's 27-minute interview, some similarly slammed the appearance as insensitive.
'Even if it was an accident, that person is dead. Her family and friends will never see her alive EVER again. Alec Baldwin should show some respect by not showing his face on TV let alone #SNL ever again,' another person said.
Others rushed to his defense - despite the fact the case against him was dismissed solely due to prosecutors' mishandling of evidence.
'I’m sorry people can’t seem to grasp the fact that Alec Baldwin has moved on from his troubles, and just continued to just be the man that he is today- one with a huge heart for so many out there, and his family,' one person said.
'Quit b****ing about him coming back to the #SNL spotlight.'
In the past, Baldwin has drawn backlash for his over-the-top rendition of Donald Trump, which he elected to neglect during this outing.
yeah it was, but this is liberals we are talking about. he killed a person and no one really seems to care. but if you sexually harass a woman you will go to jail for 40 years. makes no sense.
shareYep and it wasn't just driving a car off a bridge and leaving the woman to drown this time. It was straight up pointing a gun at the poor woman and shooting. Even if they don't consider it murder which it was, he still took the protocols of the business and threw them out the window which resulted in the death. Now he's on SNL playing a man whose father was shot to death by a maniac, crazy.
shareBaldwin's longtime friend Lorne Michaels seems to be trying to help Baldwin make SOME re-entry into "the business," but there can be no doubt that it was uncomfortable to watch both times.
As Bret Baier, Baldwin was rather buried in facial make-up ...it took awhile to recognize him ...but as RFK Jr. it was much more clearly him and I felt: "Damn, I can see what used to be so funny about Baldwin's acting style...he's still got it."
Except he doesn't anymore. He doesn't have the good will of the audience to ENJOY him.
There was a powerful lesson in how Baldwin "won" his criminal trial. Simply put: he used his movie star wealth to buy the services of BETTER LAWYERS than the young armorer. His better lawyers managed to cut off the prosecution's case before it had barely started on "a technicality" -- that wasn't a technicality at all, but still wasn't necessarily "fair."
So the good news for Baldwin is: he got off. No jail time. The bad news is: HOW he got off. Before any of the interested people in the world got to see him have to confront his culpabliity (which seems to have at least had something to do with the pressure he put on everyone to "rush production" and short cut safety.)
Because Baldwin never had to "face the music" as to his behavior(he did, a little bit, early on, and left the room), I'm guessing he never gets his career back at the levels it once was.
Also interesting: the young female armorer had less good legal representation than Baldiwn, but DOES seem like the most specifically, appropriate person to be convicted and do jail time. So that worked out. But..if she had had BALDWIN's lawyers...she might have gotten off.
Life is unfair.

PS. Way back in 1982, director John Landis was prosecuted both in the criminal and civil courts for the deaths of actor Vic Morrow and 2 children in an accident on The Twilight Zone location. SNL veteran Dan Ackroyd - -who was in the movie said, "This was simply a tragic industrial accident, nothing more." Landis won his criminal case(paid some civil damages) and a large group of fellow movie directors took cameo parts in "Into the Night"(1985) to show their support for ...Landis. (Whose high-pressure arrogant management of his set with children in a scene wasn't all that removed from Baldwin's high-pressure management of HIS rust set.)
In the end, Hollywood(and New York) protect their own.
Did they do a skit where he pretends to shoot someone?
shareI detest Baldwin after his hate-filled and lousy Trump impersonations, but I didn't mind him as Brett Baier at all. I am so glad he got replaced as the Trump impersonator. I like the new guy so much better.
Proving that I really don't mind SNL bashing Trump, though I voted for him twice. I just really hated Baldwin's over-the-top impersonation, which I could tell was just boiling over with hatred.
