Prop master said she found live rounds on set

https://abc7.com/rust-movie-set-shooting-new-details-prop-master/11910857/

"I heard the shot go off and I heard Joel scream," said Sarah Zachary, Rust's prop master. "When the gunshot went off, that's when I all the sudden saw Hannah in front of it. She turned around and said this wasn't supposed to happen my whole career is ruined."

Zachary is referring to "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, she oversaw the guns on set.

After the shooting, Zachary said she went back to the prop cart where guns on set were loaded and made a shocking discovery.

"I went over to the cart because I had a suspicion of what happened, um and or, not what happened, but like you know to see if there were any other live rounds in the box that she pulled from. I started shaking the rounds and I found a few more in it," Zachary said.

I've been saying from the beginning....
Whoever is the one who brought live rounds onto the set and loaded them into the gun is the one ultimately responsible. That's why Alec has never been criminally charged and never will be.

reply

There is plenty of blame to be shared but the ultimate responsibility is on Baldwin. Be broke the rules, he pulled the trigger while the gun was pointed at two people.

reply

He may have some civil liability. But he will not have criminal liability.

reply

What he will have and what he should have may be two different things.

reply

He is the producer no doubt, so he must've been part of the conversation in hiring a young 24 year old inexperienced armorer, she was probably hired because she was cheap. Why he pointed the gun at two people, it's speculated he was playing Russian roulette when the whole thing happen.

reply

Inexperienced? Her dad is Thell Reed. The man was a legend in shooting sports before most of you were born. She literally grew up doing it.

No, it's been reported multiple times that she pushed for more training for the actors and was overruled by production. Which is Alec Baldwin.

reply

They're been calling her inexperienced. Cause she did suggest fake guns but they wanted real ones probably they felt real guns and blanks are better because they wanna see the muzzle flash, some filmmakers feel there's something better about using real guns and blanks.

Why they ignored safety protocol, it's pretty clear were in a rush and were cutting corners to save time and money.

reply

They're calling her that because she's young and they want her to take the fall for it. She is not inexperienced.

Real guns and blanks are infinitely better. Nobody uses rubber guns for a western. At least not for any shots where you would be able to tell the difference. In fact, Tombstone used many real 19th century guns, in lieu of modern Italian replicas.

reply

Blanks can injure and kill, if you fire at close range or have something down the barrel. Because of this incident people have been calling to use fake guns with CG muzzles.

Nic Cage did complain about her in a previous movie and several other about her handling of guns on set where she discharged a firearm without warning.

reply

That's why they have rules. Rules that Baldwin broke.

reply

Broke them because they were in a rush, they were distracted or dickheads trying to save time and money or doing it for the sake of realism like having a real chainsaw on set or putting actors near a active volcano.

Infuriating they didn't learn their lessons from Brandon Lee's death on The Crow.

reply

My impression of Baldwin is that he is very arrogant and probably narcissistic. It's not surprising.

reply

it's speculated he was playing Russian roulette when the whole thing happen.

There is video showing him rehearsing and pointing the gun towards the camera. It shows it in this video montage of things that happened that day. I wouldn't doubt if the actual shooting was filmed. I mean if they filmed this clip right here of him rehearsing with the gun, it's possible they have that on film too. I would think if they did happen to catch that on film, it would have come out by now. But you never know. They might have it on film and they're still investigating how the live rounds got into the gun.
