Roles you would like to see Karen play?

Are there any roles, either in past movies, or just generic ones that you can see Karen in? For me, I would've loved to see her in Joan Allen's role in The Upside of Anger. Don't get me wrong, I love that movie, and Joan Allen's performance is wonderful, but I think Karen would've been great in it, too.

I also think she would've been great in Felicity Huffman's role in Georgia Rule, although the age difference between her and Jane Fonda doesn't work for a mother-daughter relationship.

I hope now that she's gotten so much attention from Indy 4 that she will consider more roles (or people will consider her more for them). Although she's said she doesn't like television too much, I think she's got the comedic chops to have an appearance on Curb Your Enthusiasm or to be in a romantic comedy.

Any other thoughts?

Maybe more in the 80's than now, but a Jedi. An ass-kicking, lightsaber weidling, force be with you female Jedi. From one Lucas film to another... oh yeah. :D

I really don't think she's gotten THAT much attention when it's all said and done with her role in Indy 4. You really think her appearance and performance was so amazing that it will be opening up all kinds of roles for her now? Don't want to burst your bubble but after all she's known basically for ONE role and that was 26 years ago. I thought she was perfectly cast and great as Marion in Raiders and it's a shame they dropped the ball and didn't have her continue in the sequels. As for any other roles as I said since people mostly know her just for Marion, and a minor role in Animal House- did we really get a good look at her acting chops? In my opinion her appearance in the latest Indy was nice in a nostalgic kind of way but other than that wasn't anything special at all, and I don't see a big rush to get her cast in other projects. More importantly she doesn't seem that interested in reviving her film career beyond this latest Indy film.

Now that's not entirely true. I've read articles where she's said she'd like to go back to acting, and as most know, she took off acting to raise her son. She's not only known as Marion, she's known as a slew of other characters, whether they be big or small. People don't realize how hard it is for someone her age to get roles. As one actress around her age has said,"We have to bang on doors to get roles." She's also reunited with her manager, so I'm thinking she's interested, but she's going to have to bang on a whole bunch of doors just to get roles. Personally, I can see her mainly going into indie films again with one or two big screen parts. She won't get huge roles right away, as now she has to re prove herself to Hollywood.

I should have said I believe she's more interested in stage acting not film- I thought I had read something about that in the build-up to her role in Indy4. I am aware of her time off acting while raising a son. I will stick to my opinion that for most general film audiences, and not hardcore Karen Allen fans, she isn't well known for her other film roles besides Raiders and Animal House. Oh I shouldn't have forgotten Starman also, with Jeff Bridges. These are films from the 80s and she's been pretty much off the radar since then. She definitely because of her age unfortunately has that whammy of age/sexism around her neck and we all know how much roles disappear for actresses of a certain age. I really can't believe, after everyone having heard this countless times before, that people wouldn't realize how hard it is for older actresses to get work in Hollywood! You bet she has to prove herself to the film establishment before all the roles the OP thinks she has earned (?) come flying her way after her lukewarm bit in Indy4.

Oh, I know how hard it is for actresses over 40 to get roles. Trust me, all my favorites are between the ages of 48-65 and most of them have not been on screen in at least 10 years fully. Most of them ended up on television. It's like once you hit forty, the roles decrease. Karen tried once before to get back through, and directors were expecting a different version of her. Because of the gap between roles for her(indie films count, so she hasn't been acting in four years)which is a pretty big gap, obviously between that time, things changed, and she said herself in countless interviews that she considered herself a part of a generation of actresses that are either on tv and film--barely, or gone completely from the business because Hollywood has a fear of aging. She said that it seemed that only a select few in her age group got the roles(i.e Susan Sarandon). I just think Karen could make a comeback, but she'd have to start kind of over, and she wouldn't just get silver screen roles, honestly, I can see her doing more indie films and Broadway...and maybe one or two silver screen roles. She's obviously going to start out small for sure though.

Another thing is, Karen's got so many other projects and things she does with her life, like her clothing business and (years ago) the yoga studio. Even though we all want to see more of her on screen, she's not just some "has been" actress that you only hear of once then never again.
Michelle Pfeiffer stopped acting for a number of years and only recently started again last year, and has now come out in like 5 different movies in the last two years.
It could happen :)

Perhaps I should have phrased my question differently. Have you ever seen a role in a movie or tv show, etc, that you thought of Karen? Like I said in my previous post, for example, watching "The Upside of Anger," I could see Karen Allen in the role played by Joan Allen. Another example I used was that I could see her playing Felicity Huffman's role in "Georgia Rule."

And, regardless of whether or not she plans on making a comeback to movies, just hypothetically, are there any roles that you'd like to see her play or any specific genres, etc?

Ok, besides my 1st post about the Jedi... what would I like to see her play? *ponders* Ooo! Sarah Connor in the Terminator movies? Although I love those movies just how they are... I can see that.
