Sick of seeing his smug, squinty, wannabe debonair face everywhere...
Huge ego on this guy.
He ALSO won two Golden Globes (in 2008 and 2016) for "Mad Men." Look under "Awards"! Did I ONCE deny that this man lacked talent??? NO. For the record, I MUCH prefer Kevin Spacey, and think that he is far more versatile than Hamm. For what it's worth, since the character of Don Draper is an alcoholic, Hamm's ability to manifest that PARTICULAR trait should not have required much effort; however, that is, admittedly, only one facet of his character. You typed: "As for awards themselves having 'limited significance'...well then, that has to be applied to Affleck as well." When did I ever say that I was a fan of Affleck??? I could give a rat's ass about either one of them. I clearly implied that.
In 1951, the Best Actor Oscar went to Bogart, for "The African Queen" -- and he RICHLY deserved it for an amazing performance. HOWEVER, in that same year Marlon Brando starred in "A Streetcar Named Desire," Montgomery Clift starred in "A Place in the Sun," and Alistair Sim starred as Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" (almost unanimously considered the definitive version of the classic story). NONE of these performances are dated; and all four men deserved it equally. And that is one example of why I feel that the Oscars have "limited significance."
