Aphasia - Bruce hit in the head during filming of Tears of the Sun

This is what did it

He may have Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). The patients are generally younger and it’s not caused by a stroke or dementia.

Bruce was also apparently, a hardcore drunk for decades.

Alcoholism was likely a big contributing factor behind Rita Hayworth's dementia.

Wow, I didn't know that Bruce may have been a longtime drunk. If so that would explain a lot of things. I picture him as a happy drunk, at least I hope he was/is. That's decades of fun, but unfortunately the end not so fun.

And wow on Rita Hayworth too, had no idea she was a drunk.

I think it's also a function of his drinking. Guy got sober in the 80s but 20 years later started drinking wine and then he was effectively drunk for several years. It was likely that if you bumped into him, he had probably been drinking. A colleague of mine bumped into him (like physically bumped into him) at a restaurant in Colorado and he was exceptionally rude.

Why are you just taking this clown's statement as fact?

And how the hell do you know he hit his head in a 20-year old movie - and that it caused his condition?

reply

Bruce sued the production company of Tears of the Sun back in 2004, stating a projectile from a pyrotechnic device slammed into his forehead.

I looked up Rita Hayworth, she certainly did drink heavily. She avoided doctors because they would lecture her about her drinking, she developed Alzheimers, which was misdiagnosed for many years.

reply

I remember reading about Hayworth. People thought her dementia symptoms were because of her drinking, not the disease.

reply

And you think the head injury from 20 years ago just started affecting him now?

reply

Well, it can't be any different than when you see NFL players develop CTE or ALS long after their playing careers are over.

reply

Those are repetitive injuries though like concussions. Thats going out on a pretty long limb to say a head injury from 20 years ago is what is causing his problems now.

reply

How the hell do we know that he hit his head in a 20-year old movie? Because it actually happened:

reply

You two idiots are just throwing shit out there. You have no idea what his personal life was like or what causes his current condition. Poor guy is forced to live like this and you lowlifes are putting baseless shit out there.

reply

So a public figure like Bruce Willis is coming out about having aphasia and it's instantly out of line to want to ponder about why he may now have it in the first place? How in the hell does that make somebody like me in your words "throwing shit out there"? Of course, I don't absolutely know for sure what may have caused Bruce's current health predicament, but it's certainly food for thought to suggest that what happened on the set of Tears of the Sun might be linked.

Also, keep in mind that one of the causes of aphasia is head injury:

Shut the hell up and stop peddling your crappy links all over this damn site like a virus.

reply

What's wrong with being informative?! It's actually very generous of someone to provide links! And the people here pondering what may have been the cause of his condition are not in any way out of line, because this is a discussion board, and here, people discuss things. If you don't like it, you don't have to take part. But, no need to try and shame others for doing so- and that goes for everyone.

The dude has almost 15,000 posts and most of them are just links. If I wanted a news site i'd go to one. This is a discussion forum for original takes, not copying and pasting links. Also, he at times spams an entire board with his stupid links like on the Batman (1989) board. He has 25 posts on the first two pages alone. This is not contributing, this is spamming. He should be banned quite frankly.

It's called old age.
