I think it's also a function of his drinking. Guy got sober in the 80s but 20 years later started drinking wine and then he was effectively drunk for several years. It was likely that if you bumped into him, he had probably been drinking. A colleague of mine bumped into him (like physically bumped into him) at a restaurant in Colorado and he was exceptionally rude.share

I looked up Rita Hayworth, she certainly did drink heavily. She avoided doctors because they would lecture her about her drinking, she developed Alzheimers, which was misdiagnosed for many years.
