911: Lone Star got me thinking: Has she always been a bad actress?

She's not terrible in LOTR but then again she isn't in it *that* much. Armageddon and The Incredible Hulk were paycheck movies so anyone could had played those parts. But she's just awful in 911: Lone Star. Her delivery is forced with every line.

I’m just watching the first episode of 911 Lone Star now. She is absolutely terrible, there is no emotion or anything from her. I don’t remember her being this bad previously. Either way I won’t be watching another episode!

I wonder if Liv Tyler is simply too genuine a person to really be a good actor. Of course, I haven't seen every single thing that Liv Tyler has acted in. But Liv based on all of the interviews that I've seen of her, always struck me as a polite, pure, kind-hearted individual. She's the type of person who I don't think can play anger convincingly (like that scene in The Incredible Hulk where Liv yells "asshole" at a taxi driver) because she is just not an angry person in real life at all. Plus, because Liv has that distinctive, girlish, soft as a feather voice, it as you said, comes across as forced when she has to be more commanding.

I was reading about Michael Jackson and his occasional forays into acting like in Captain Eo, and I think this could apply to Liv also. Liv you can also argue, just can not pretend to have emotions that she really doesn't have.
