People are talking about both of them and the Oscars. These sort of stunts can get them in the limelight and draw ratings to future Oscar events

That was "punching down", an A-lister slapping the shit out of a B-lister, because he knew damn well that the B-lister would never DARE do anything about it, because he's not in a position to make an enemy of an A-lister. Smith wouldn't dare do that to a studio head or a top suit at Disney, but he feels entitled to slap the shit out of Chris Rock, someone who isn't in a position to fight back, press charges, or even complain to the public. It was a public abuse of power, something that means you're on my shit list for life.
