Van Damm and Seagal?

Now I was born in the early 80's and have grown up with these guys and like them both (though I lean towards Van Damm, who is slightly less pretentious and had a better acting ability than Seagal). The two men had both made it huge during the same exact time frame, which I think is really something especially considering they were both real martial artists and had completely different looks, style, background, and fighting styles. But now when I look back, I'm surprised that Hollywood, say by the mid 90's, never got the two in a picture together, especially one that pitted them against each other! What a box office draw that would have been!

How come this never happened? I mean, I'm beginning to hear that Seagal really did not like Van Damm; is this true? And if so, did that have anything to do with it?

JCVD has actually said nice(ish) things about Seagal on occasion when asked and been fairly polite about the whole situation.

In Seagal's mind, this is probably all the proof he needs that Van Damme is running scared of him and that he could totally kick his (JCVD's) ass.

IMO, Van Damme would have smash Seagal - now or then.

Unless Seagal pulled a gun. I don't know if this is actually true, but there was a story that Seagal walks around with two pistols on his person at all times.

Van Damme had cocaine issues in 1997 and probably took Seagal more seriously than he might have otherwise. The clean and sober JVCD seems like he just can't be bothered with or by Seagal running off at the mouth. That said, Seagal would be dead meat in a real fight with the far more in shape Van Damme or Chuck Norris.

Indeed he would.

I thought Van Damme had a big head, but his fight with Stallone was almost one-sided. Sly beat him easily. Van Damme let loose 2 high kicks then Sly did the rest.
