I think casting Justin Timberlake in Guru is what really killed the film. Beside the feel that his character was a mix of Austin, Dr. Evil, and Shrek, the casting of Timberlake killed the movie. Guru was targeting the same 18-34 male demographics that Myers prior films targeted. This is the same group of male that spent the last decade hating Timberlake and his boy band brethern.
shareI haven't seen Hat or Guru, but I was a huge fan of the first two Austin movies & I think I only made it about 45 minutes into Goldmember before I shut it off in disgust & proceeded to find every person who told me it was "SOOO FUNNY" to berate them for being idiots. Other than the Austinpussy skit(which I found mildly entertaining), there was nothing I found even remotely entertaining in the 45 minutes I managed to watch of that **** bomb.
