She probably thought there would be no backlash because she didn’t name the bakery. People don’t take kindly to to rich celebrities using their platform to attack small family owned businesses. It backfired on her, and that is probably the best thing that could happen for everyone. If they lost business over this, they might have had a lawsuit, since it would be easy to prove that Whoopi’s comments had hurt them financially

The business was actually swamped with orders from around country - people ordering goodies and sending them to a local first responders station for instance.
When the bakery owner held the press conference outside the bakery, there was a man who spoke too. I don’t know his name. But he was funny.
