Mel Gibson the Actor or the director ?

I love Gibson the actor and the director. A Recent article I read stated that Gibson wasn't getting more roles simply because of his age. Or to be specific the fact that Gibson is type cast as a action star. not too much of a actor. Which to be honest I say Mel Gibson and the first thing to come to mind is ? Most often it'll be Mad Max or Lethal Weapon's Martin Riggs. Braveheart's William Wallace.
Its the same with Bruce Willis the first thing to come to mind is Die Hard.
But Gibson also has a incredible career as a director in front of him which more people are urging him to do more of.
Hacksaw Ridge at the moment seems to be a hit and has oscar buzz swarming it. So the question is right now what do you want? More of Mel Gibson the Actor or Mel Gibson the director?
I'd love to see him do one more action movie Get the Gringo wasn't that good of a action film and Expendables III wasn't his showcase it was a all star cast picture. but I'd like to see Gibson do one last action movie and go to directing movies like Eastwood has. And for my money Gibson could be easily the superior director he has that skill. And for my Money a Mel Gibson directed THE ALAMO would be a epic movie to do !

. Heck, watch The Bounty....a film early in Mel's career, and tell me he's not (already) one of the best actors you've ever seen.

OR Hamlet. My god he can act circle around anyone. He's played SO many different types of characters. He is one of the best actors ever. Just his facial expressions alone.

I can't pick; he's my favorite actor and director, 
