Why Hollywood won't cast Richard Gere anymore

Once upon a time, Richard Gere was a major Hollywood heartthrob and well-regarded for his dramatic work. From his career-making turn as a male escort in American Gigolo (1980), to his iconic romantic leads in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) and Pretty Woman (1990), and his celebrated turn in the Oscar-winning Chicago (2002), Gere had an incredibly busy couple of decades. Everyone knew his name (except maybe not his middle name, which, as a fun fact, happens to be Tiffany). Gere's career has grown quiet in recent years. A little too quiet, in fact. Here's what might be causing his slowdown, and how he may just be able to turn things around.

he is a movie star from a bygone era when there were matinee idols and people queued around the block for actors of this popularity.

he has embraced age with open arms and in fairness he doesnt come across as giving a toss about being a box office star anymore unlike say harrison ford who clings to his sequels with eager readiness.

Why I'm shunned by Hollywood: Richard Gere, 67, says the movie studios refuse to hire him because his Tibetan activism will upset China

He's growing up as a human being (something others might not be able to identify with).

He's played punks and heartthrobs in the past, and some people still expect the same behavior/mentality to exist today.

This is not the case.

Personally, I respect his conscious choice to embrace Buddhism, and his support for Tibet, and the Dalai Lama.

Richard Gere has been on the scene a long time. It’s hard to remember now, but Gere was Diane Keaton’s creepy stalker in 1977’s Looking For Mr. Goodbar. The ’80s, though, were Gere’s peak. He carried Debra Winger off to a better life at the beginning of the decade in An Officer and a Gentleman, and as it closed he was doing the same for Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Heck, the actor was even a favorite of the Dalai Lama. Things haven’t quite been the same since, though. His strong work in Arbitrage in 2012, was sandwiched between such forgettable fare as The Double and Movie 43. Where did his career go sideways? We take a look.

Don't people get tired of these Why Hollywood won't cast () anymore? First off, He's uber rich and he doesn't need Hollywood. If he wanted to make a film today, he could easily. It's not about why Hollywood won't cast him. It's about why he won't make a Hollywood film to appease the masses of sheeple. There's a difference. Some actors make their cash and leave because as we all know, Hollywood is a cesspool of *beep* and piss and no sane person would want to stay in that filth.
