With all the legacy sequels is it time we had a "The Color of Money" Sequel?
I can see it. A great character piece. Where's Vincent now? Carmen?
I could see him taking a young upstart on the road. Could be a fantastic film.

"The Color of Money" was already a sequel, to "The Hustler". A sequel to a sequel--layer upon layer upon layer.
shareWhile the book Color of Money was a sequel to the The Hustler, the film Color of money was an adaptation in name only. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Color_of_Money_(novel)
While Fast Eddie is in the film and the book, Minnesota Fats of the book is not in the film and the rest of the characters of the film including Vincent Lauria are not in the book.
I would love to see one.
The problem is that this movie was directed by a master.
I don't think Mr. Cruise would do agree to star with just any director, and the directors in Hollywood that could do a better than average job currently would probably shy away as the work (no matter how good) would always be compared to Scoresese.
Also all the legal/story/character hurtles that have to be overcome by the studio.

Without Newman it doesn't work. That was his movie.
shareIt’s not sustainable! A film such as this would be a massive flop and a step down for TC.
He has painted himself into a corner with those action films.
