Why Does he Hate Bond?

I've read a lot about him and apparently he hates the character of James Bond. Does anybody know why?

Very few movie stars, if any at all, have experienced the same level of fame that Connery did in the 60's. It was the kind of fame that only singers like Elvis in the 50's, and The Beatles in the 60's went through.

There were no other movie stars that were doing the things Connery was doing in that era. He was THE first modern action hero, and it destroyed his privacy wherever he went. Even the subsequent Bond actors never experienced the same kind of fame Connery did because by the time he left the role in the late 60's, you were getting different types of action movies/heroes coming out like Bruce Lee movies, cop movies like Bullitt and Dirty Harry, then Star Wars, Indiana Jones etc...

Connery didn't even attend the Thunderball premiere because of what he experienced at the Goldfinger premiere. In Japan, during the filming of You Only Live Twice, he was getting his clothes ripped and being photographed on the toilet for crying out loud.

He felt it took away his identity and typecast him, and long-time friend, Michael Caine has said that if you was friends with him during that time, he or you never mentioned Bond.

He also then developed a stormy relationship with Cubby Broccoli, and felt that he didn't get paid enough.

I think he appreciates what Bond did for him but there were those aspects of it he hated.

He's proved over the years in movies like The Hill, The Offence that he wanted to be an actor more than a star but Bond was ruining that for him.
