Still big in Europe

He is still considered a big director in Europe. His movies are succesful and he gets treated like a star. He will even be at the next Venice Festival. Only ignorant America canceled him even if he is completely innocent!

reply

Woody is awesome

reply

Who wants to work with an 87-yr old director who sexually abused his step-daughters? And he's not "big." His last film (Rifkin's Festival) was poorly reviewed and earned only $2.3 million worldwide.

reply

He is innocent and its been proven decades ago. The box office was good,it was not a Marvel movie!

reply

As I remember I don't think it was "proven" but the whole story is too icky to go into again.

reply

Oh no, it was proven he didn't do anything. Teo highly respected child sexual agencies cleared Woody. Both the judge and the prosecutor, who were on Mia's side, had to admit there was nothing. The Yale-New Haven Child Sexual Assualt Clinjc report clearly stated they believed Dylan's testimony had been coached.

If you've got two hours, there's an excellent video on YouTube by Rick Worley who spells it all out for you. It can be found here:

Nobody, so it's great that there are no directors like that for people NOT to work with.

reply

A lot of movies fail or do not do well. Woody is a classic American director with tons of hits under his belt, and always able to get money for a movie production, despite a few misses.

reply

The American education system failed a long time ago. The inability of many to think critically about Woody Allen and the lack of evidence against him is proof.

reply

When it came out that the actors in the movies he'd "write" and direct were encouraged to ad lib scenes in character, I lost respect for him. He'd take the bows for the people who'd really create the movies within his basic outline.

reply

Who cares how much respect you have for Woody. How much does he have for you? ;-)
Larry David does the same thing and he's hilarious.

reply

Not that you care, but if someone says they write a movie, but in reality the actors wing it, but it takes some brass-plated gall to accept three Oscars for "best original screenplay" when it should have been "best original outline." And it takes some willful blindness not to see it.

I'm sure Woody Allen has as much respect for me as he does for his simps.

reply

Dolt, it's called improvising, and many actors, directors and writers do it and expect it.
Actors also enjoy putting their own touches on a character.
Your comments are so silly.

reply

You seem to have a legalistic mentality toward scripts and the delivery by actors. The author writes the story & dialogue, which provide the framework for the actors to execute the material. Just because an actor ad libs a bit doesn't mean it wasn't written by the scriptwriter. So, s/he changes a few words during spontaneous delivery, so what? They don't deserve an Oscar for it. Any actor who totally changes the content of his/her lines won't be an actor for very long.

Nah, he's 5'5" wherever he is.

I have never been to the country of Europe I can imagine it as a barren wasteland, almost lawlessness , dangerous. There are a large element of Euro in DTLA. They are easy to spot in fake silk shirts, track suits in restaurants, thick fake gold chains, hair cropped short, tattooed, talking loud on flip phones in unknown languages.
My point is that I hardly think there is a film milieu in Euro and if there where, Woody Allen hardly would be the forefront of it.

Europe is surely more cultural than USA

reply

The consensus is that America is the elite.
