I don't think he was horrible. I just think that the vehicles that were chosen for him were horrible. No amount of good acting could save a large percentage of them.

I think he did great in his first film, Love Me Tender.

I have a feeling if Elvis was given a straight dramatic role he wouldn't have known what to do with it. He could have been in West Side Story but I doubt it would be a good idea. Or On The Waterfront. I coulda been somebody, (sob).

He was a pretty good actor, but not the first musician turned actor. Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and everybody who ever made a musical movie preceded him by many years.

Sinatra was a pretty good actor. He had some dramatic roles and did well with them.
