Favorite Performance?

share Wuthering Heights and Hamlet. In his heyday, good gosh, the man was simply beautiful to look at. I didn't even care of he could act. I just like looking at his face!! A fair thespian too (lol)
A much later role, the Nazi hunter in The Boys from Brazil. I was going through my Ira Levin phase then, reading his books and watching the movies made from them.
The Boys from Brazil is something of a guilty pleasure but, honestly, I consider both Olivier and Gregory Peck to be shockingly bad in it, ham at its most overripe. Very enjoyable performances, certainly, but for all the wrong reasons!
The one actor who emerges unscathed is James Mason - seriously, I have yet to see a performance from him which was anything less than impeccable.
Maybe I just like it because I really loved the book. Overacted probably, but I enjoyed it anyway.

shareI liked the movie and film. One thing I always remember from the book was that the Nazi-hunter could feel Mengele's presence over the phone. I thought Peck did a good job of commutating that evil in the film's version of that scene.

shareI reckon that he was his best in 'Rebecca' as well as others on here. For my type of film. I'll add 'Sleuth.' 'A Talent For Murder' with Angela Lansbury. And 'Bunny Lake Is Missing.'
