Emma Thompson HATES Audrey Hepburn with passion.

Quote:

"I find Audrey Hepburn fantastically twee. Twee is whimsy without wit. It’s mimsy-mumsy sweetness without any kind of bite. And that’s not for me. She can’t sing and she can’t really act, I’m afraid. I’m sure she was a delightful woman – and perhaps if I had known her I would have enjoyed her acting more, but I don’t and I didn’t, so that’s all there is to it, really."

reply

She wasn't always twee.

AH was a pretty versatile actress, really. She could play intelligent characters. Look at Wait Until Dark.

reply

What's up with WWII anyhow? Why was everybody so angry? They should have just sat down and played X Box. Modern people are ridiculous in all their views of the past.

reply

Not sure why anyone would hate on a dead screen legend who has done so much for humanitarian causes. Emma Thompson is a good actress but she is a horrible human being.

reply

Agreed. Probably has a lot to do with her own insecurities though. She´s an ugly actress and apparently an ugly human being too. All she has is her acting skills so she more likely had had to work a lot harder to get her roles so there is obviously some resentment for beautiful stars of past and present who get roles handed to them on a platter because of how great they look.

reply

ROFLMAO.

Yup. You nailed it.

reply

So a woman hates another one that is much more attractive than her.

Figures.

reply

Wait Until Dark - nothing twee about that performance.

Bashing dead legends is rarely a good look. I assume Thompson feels she’s being frightfully brash and frank but it just makes her sound like a bitch. Shame, she’s usually cool.

reply

She (Emma Thompson) is a fucking idiot who thinks she is above everybody else. She attends a demo in London about peoples carbon footprint by flying (first class) from the USA.
Fucking way to go, hypocrite!!!!

reply

Agree with ET to a point. Hepburn was not a complex dramatic actress but she was the romcom queen of the day and a cultural icon. I never liked Breakfast at Tiffany’s but loved Roman Holiday and Sabrina. I thought she was not a good fit for My Fair Lady either. Would love to have seen Julie Andrews instead.

reply

Thompson is a bitter hag, a hack actress with no charisma or beauty. Her comments about Audrey Hepburn confirm she knows nothing about her. The main part of Hepburn's career was in the 1950s and 1960s, yet more than half a century later she is still well remembered and a star. Half a century from now, historians will have to do research in cinema archives just to find out who Thompson was--a forgotten blip in the history of film.

Screw Emma!!!
