SPOILERS.....HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THEM?

DO YOU CARE?

DO YOU AVOID THEM?

ARE YOU MAD ABOUT SOMEONE SPOILING SOMETHING?

reply

I look up movies here after I've seen them. Spoilers are irrelevant to me.

I mean if we're discussing a movie, we will need to address the end as well. On a comprehensive film site like MovieChat, spoilers are not an issue.

Don't even get in my face about it.

πŸ˜‚I THINK I AGREE.....SPOILERS IN THREAD TITLES IS A BIT WONKY THOUGH.

Ok, I'm not a fan of Spoilers if it's a movie I'm really looking forward to however, how did you do that for the SPOILERS by doing that shading??

I hate spoilers. I'll avoid reviews, reading newspapers, trailers, etc..

reply

but the rules of "reviews, reading newspapers, trailers, etc.." are "no spoiler"

its places like this you have to look out

I admit *somtimes* "reviews, reading newspapers, trailers, etc.." give too much away , but how else you gonna work out if its worth watching ?

reply

"the rules..."

Unfortunately, not true. Newspapers have given away the ending/major spoiler to upcoming movies. One time, a journalist was very spiteful because he put the spoiler in the headline and many readers complained since the movie hadn't been released yet.

More recently, I was trying to avoid knowing the ending of Succession since I hadn't watched the last season. I avoided papers, reviews, news about the show, this site, etc.. I was relieved when they delayed the Emmys for a few months because I thought entertainment reporters would spoil it and I needed time to see it. Anyway, an actor from the show revealed the ending during his acceptance speech.

So how do you assess id I movie is worth your time to watch?

Please be advised:

Kowalski has been affirmed and validated as Mayor of MovieChat. His use of ALL CAPS is not "yelling", but simply part of his mayoral privileges. He has good days and bad days like all the rest of us, but I think he really means well.

THANKS BUDDY....I QUITE LIKE YOU.🧁😎

I'm all in on spoilers.
For me looking for romcom with as little drama as possible, when a movie is advertised as romcom, but then restricts the comedy part to the first 1/3 and the romance part to just a couple of minutes in the second 1/3 of the movie, when the happy end (if there is one) is just the last 2 seconds of the movie, while all the rest is maximized drama, is always such a disappointment, that I rather know in advance when a movie is more in my line of what I like to see.

In the same way that I would not buy a house without seeing it first (in person), or buy a car without driving it first, I want to know what I'm going to be receiving for my money when I watch a movie. Every time (100%) I'm interested in a movie, I read about and research it first before I actually see it. Yes, I want EVERYTHING spoiled, even at the risk of being disappointed because I'd rather be disappointed than be emotionally manipulated.

I've just never been convinced of the whole "SPOILER" argument. I've known people who seem to think they should receive some kind of trophy for "figuring out" a movie without any help, but I've just never understood why that's so important to them. If it's "just a movie", why do you care so much about how much you know about it going in? The "everything has to be a surprise" argument is laughable, because what is life, if not an endless series of surprises? I suppose some people's lives are so dull and boring that they need their entertainment to rouse them from their lethargy, but that's not me.

reply

Not a fan of spoilers. I like going in blind. Especially for things I'm excited for.

I might not even watch the trailer. A teaser is more than enough for me.

For new movies that I wish to see in theaters, I stay off the boards of them. For a movie that is 1 year old or older, I don't care. It annoys me when someone on here, on a board for an old movie, complains about spoilers being in topic titles. If it's an old movie that you wish to see, don't go to the board of it on here. It's that simple.

reply

"in topic titles"

Yikes! Spoilers should never be in a title.
Instead just tease with a (spoiler) alert in the title.

There are many movies/shows that people discover later. I get watchlist ideas from this site and some of them are very old like The Shawshank Redemption that I saw for the first time not too long ago.
