Last night we watched Child’s Play (1988)

My 10 year old daughter and I found it hilarious. The best bit was when the Aunt got ‘hammered’ out of the apartment window (I was disappointed that the vehicle she landed on didn’t explode in a gigantic fireball too, lol).

We had fun watching this (7/10 from both of us).

This is what we’ve seen with horror elements so far: -

Addams Family I and II (1991/93)
Alien (1979)
The Amazing Mr Blunden (1972)
Babysitter I and II (2017/22)
Beetlejuice (1988)
Child’s Play (1988)
Cujo (1983)
Dr Who (2005-)
Five Nights At Freddy’s (2023)
Fright Night (2011)
Gremlins I and II (1984/90)
The Haunting (1999)
Hocus Pocus I and II (1993/2022)
I Am Legend (2007)
I Know What You Did Last Summer I and II (1997/98)
It I and II (2017/19)
The Lost Boys (1987)
M3GAN (2022)
Pet Sematary (1989)
Prey (2022)
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Stranger Things (2016-)
Wednesday (2022-)
The Thing (1982)
World War Z (2013)

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. We will wade through them as best we can: -

BKB highly recommended it.

This is a horror series I've never been a fan of. The first one is okay, but the rest just do nothing for me.

reply

Maybe a case of ‘so bad, they’re good?’

reply

Ok Andy, what's the next Horror movie you're introducing your daughter to?? Try PHANTASM

reply

Hopefully he tells us today. The anticipation is killing me.

reply

Oh, shush you, lol.

reply

We’ve also been wading through the Scream franchise, so it would be nice to get that wrapped up.

reply

It's been a while so I don't remember them all, but my IMDb scores for them are all low.

reply

I really liked it and I’m glad you both did as well. As samoanjoes stated the rest are less entertaining.

reply

We found this one hilarious.

reply

I liked child's play as a kid. But as i got older i found it ridiculous.

You do have a few good ones on your list there though

reply

The plan is to gradually educate my daughter without mentally scarring her.

reply

Then don't watch HEREDITARY if you don't want to scar her

reply

Duly noted 😬👍

reply

Brad Dourif is always a treat!

One cool aspect of this hobby you're taking part in is, your daughter's gonna have the benefit of learning where some popular cultural tropes came from. It seems horror movies have a huge influence on pop culture, even outside the horror genre. If you ever show her "Ready Player One," she'll know exactly what the Chucky bomb is all about, lol xD

reply

You’ve hit the nail on the head. Over the years we’ve watched hundreds of films together from numerous genres both old and new. The whole aim is to give her a firm background in pop culture.

Ready Player One is definitely one for the future 👍

You should check out Oculus (2014). I think you two would like it.

Added 👍
