I did a big organizing project in my garage. It looks great, but i had to take my TV mount down. I'm not sure if it would go up again but it was great for when we had parties. Throw a video, movie, or game on as people eat and socialize.
I'm thinking about putting a pull down screen up for a projector. Anythoughts on that?
My first thought is , I've got a bunch of projectors lying around that are largely worthless now that TV's with large screens are cheap and plentiful , let me know if you want one (pickup in uk)
Projectors are noisy and need it to be pretty dark, and hang around on the ceiling when not in use , which diminishes their only advantage - screen rolls out of the way when not in use.
Won't be crossing the pond. I have a decent projector that's not too noisy. As for darkness, my garage is positioned where it wouldn't be an issue (I even need lights during the day with the doors wide open.
Problem is see is size. I only need a screen that's smaller than 48 inches across. I have a 38 in WWII stand up, but the pull downs are 64 inches on average.
I keep getting this vision of a tv suspended on two 3/4" box section steel bars that reach up to the ceiling where there are hinges , allowing the TV to be swung upwards and clipped onto the ceiling when not in use.
Although I've never seen a picture of anything like that so suspect there must be a good reason why it never happens
{edit}
having googled it there are off the shefl mounts that attempt this , but they "swing forward" which is wrong way round to me , and also dont lower it to the desired height .
