your opinion on the artist: Ozzy osbourne

I have not done one of these in a while. I used to get this set at the library every week (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memoirs_of_a_Madman_(album) ) and grew up with his music. His music now is still great fr!

I’ve never been into his music except for Randy Rhoads guitar work. According to Alex Van Halen they were talking to him about fronting Van Halen right before he got his TV show.

I like Ozzy. I like his music.

7/10

reply

He can't sing to save his life, but somehow, he's a 10/10 as an entertainer and performer.

His Zakk Wylde era solo albums are 11/10

reply

Love Ozzy, have all his albums and have seen him live 🤘🎸

Ozzy Osborne and Black Sabbath are the grandfathers of heavy metal. I suggest listening to Paranoid, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Masters of Reality and Vol. 4. Great songs on each album.

reply

Even Ozzy at his lowest would've predicted the 2024 US election correctly.

reply

I love Ozzy!

I AM IRON MAN!!!

Love Ozzy, both his careers were ground breaking.
He’s top boss for us fans of metal
🤘🤘🤘

I'm a punk so I go more for Sex Pistols than Ozzy. I'm not a heavy metal guy. Too much overly masculine bromance and tattoos, leather jackets and terrible fashion. For me Punk >> Metal any day of the week, any time

reply

BS maybe the proto for metal, but its in essence, to me, expertly rendered hard rock, with great dynamics, fills, Ozzy's vocal power, basically anti-war, anti-authoritarian themes. Which is also probably proto punk.

Never understand the appeal of either (punk or metal), but w/ metal there is at least some musicianship. What am I missing about punk.

reply

Actual lyrics that have meaning, purpose, and something to say and are saying something about society rather than just "Raa i'm angry and angsty and no one understands me" or some gutteral growling about how no one understands the bitter black depths of your soul.. That's all I get out of metal, apart from Hendrix, or Led Zeppelin who don't evn want to be considered metal.

Thanks. I don't think JH or LZ count as metal - they are rock. W/ LZ, they mixed in folk & blues, for a magical tapestry of eclectic beauty. For example, this is about as far from metal as you can get :

I'm with you on Sex Pistols over Black Sabbath. I'm another former punk and I find little of interest in most heavy metal. However, I do consider Ozzy to be iconic.

reply

Sabbath and Ozzy solo are great.
