Recommendations for good horror movies

Hi everyone! I’d love some recommendations for good horror movies, I love horror movies because, as a video game designer, they inspire me. I also enjoy video games and even games based on movies. I have a lot of fun on Twitch following DiceGirl Egle expert slot streamer. My favorite horror movie is The Witch with Anya Taylor-Joy, also highly recommended. ;)

Just watched these two and thought there were brilliant:

The can be watched together or by themselves - but they share some characters and a theme.

Ah, if you're interested in video games with horror-movie type material, I know of several that would be right up your alley:

Dragon Age trilogy (don't bother with "Veilguard," I heard it was awful)

Mass Effect trilogy - this is particularly true of the second and third games, which have some pretty nasty horror aspects to them, due to the overall story ramping up. The horror was kinda light in the first game. The 4th game, "Andromeda" doesn't have as much in the way of horror in it compared to the first trilogy.

Grounded - This one might surprise you, considering on its surface, it makes you think of "Honey I Shrunk the Kids," but don't be fooled. There's some really dark, messed up stuff cleverly hidden in this game's story. Plus the spiders scare the crap out of everyone.

(These three recommendations below are based on what I saw from my dad and brother playing, I did not play these myself)

The Witcher games (lots of horror-based monsters and scary scenery)

The Doom series

The Wolfenstein series, most notably the more recent games.

Mass effect is not exactly horror, but I love that franchise, true game changer for me

Oh yeah, I love those games. "Andromeda" is my favorite, despite it missing some of the more iconic aliens. I'm playing the Legendary Edition right now (which covers the original M.E. Trilogy), and the updated graphics in the first game look great :D

reply

You must be the first person I read saying Andromeda is favorite 😁 that's the only one I couldn't finish because I didn't like it. I finished the originals and then legendary edition. Beautiful games and the decision making is fantastic.

Don't know if you're a fan of medieval without sorcery, but Kingdom Come Deliverance is so unique. It gives you nothing, you have to work your way up, rpg style, decision making, quests, absolutely loved it!

Yeah, I'm probably the only person on the planet that actually enjoyed "Mass Effect Andromeda." I'm a big fan of space colonization stories and liked that the storyline was lighter than the original trilogy, though it was a little bit weak in some places. I think I've played it at least 7 or 8 times and always ended up with Jaal, the Angaran alien guy. He frankly is the only one with a great love scene in the whole game.

Closest equivalents I've played to medieval games without magic are "Farthest Frontier," "Medival II: Total War," and "The Settlers: Rise of an Empire." "Kingdom Come Deliverance" sounds interesting, though.

I loved Andromeda! It's one of my favourite games.

You should have seen some of the mods I put into it, hehehe. Nexus Mods has some great stuff for "Mass Effect Andromeda." Most of them are superficial, like making some NPC's more attractive, fixing some of the uniform colors, modifying some of Ryder's casual clothing, changing Jaal's skintone, providing better hairstyles for the female characters, or changing some parts of the interior of the Tempest.

I absolutely love the Mass Effect Trilogy. The ending was sooooo good. It had so many horror elements.

The games have a difficulty level called Cinema Mode. The enemies so incredibly easy for people who suck at games. They can still enjoy the story.
