Just started watching Independence Day (1996)

My husband has seen it but I don't think I have. I'm continuing to make my way through the disaster movie recommendations you guys gave me. πŸ™‚

This movie has alotta famous people in it.

reply

In my Top 10 of all time.

reply

I wish I had seen it in the theater! I had a newborn baby when it came out so probably not much chance of that happening.

reply

I was invited to the premiere. My friend and I took a bottle of vodka in with us. We had front row seats, so it was like we were in the movie. A red carpet, a vodka rush and aliens, what more could you possibly want?

reply

That sounds like quite the memorable experience, and a fun way to do it up right. I had a 4-month-old when it came out so I was probably not fully awake and mostly hoping for sleep on that day. πŸ˜‚

reply

I liked it a lot for about the first hour.

In the second hour I thought it became ridiculous.

However, having said that, it's still worth watching.

It's always an interesting topic, what if they (and they are out there somewhere - I believe anyway) showed up at our front door? What would we do?????

reply

TRY TO HAVE SEX WITH THEM PROBABLY.πŸ€”

reply

hahahaahah

reply

That depends. Are they nice aliens or mean aliens?

reply

Hopefully they are nice.......

Not to worry though, the distances are too vast.

One thing for sure, if they do show up, and they are mean - we've had it!

reply

This movie is a lot better than 2012. 😎

This is how I feel about the movie:

I like that it's not ALL CGI.

I learned the term "practical effects" from my son within the last week. Now I'm going to pretend I know a lot of things about movies by saying this: I like that it is a mixture of practical effects and CGI.

You are impressed now, aren't you?

reply

Jeff Goldblum does a great job of playing a scientist who knows a lot more than everybody else.

Also, I have a crush on him.

reply

Can't join you on the crush, but yeah, he plays that part just right.

If you want to see interesting Jeff Goldblum work - check out

"The FLy"

reply

Yeah, I need to get that one seen too at some point. I was thinking of his role in Jurassic Park.

reply

SInce you like him as you do, you might like that he is much younger in

"THe FLy"

He plays his typical supremely intelligent scientist role just as he does in Jurassic and the one you are watching right now.

The guy was born for this type of role.

ANyway, so concludes exercise for tonight. Have a nice evening 4L!

reply

G'night!

The best part for me is that it looks like they're setting up Cousin Eddie to save the world.

reply

We have finished watching it now. My takeaways:

1.If you want to disarm aliens, use a computer virus. Brainpower can be more effective than blowing things up. Sometimes blowing things up helps too.
2. Were those salt flats? I want to visit a salt flat.
3. Will Smith can fly like those Star Wars pilots.
4. Clark Griswold really should have been nicer to Cousin Eddie.

I would rate this 7/10.

reply

It's a fun popcorn movie.

reply

Yes it was a weekend of fun shows and popcorn. The night before we went to a play of The Little Shop of Horrors which was also a blast. Now I need to watch that movie.
