Name your Fave Songs of the 2000s....

All right, just getting started working out. I've got music of the 2000s swimming in my head. Unfortunately for me, this was the decade one started looking backwards instead of forward with music (another cruelty of aging, LOL). Still, I've got some good stuff rolling around in my brain right now. I'm double checking as I take breaks to make sure what is in my head still actually sounds good in real life. If so, I'm going to post it. I'd love it if others joined in.....

And here we go......

This girl has a fantastic voice. NO idea what happened to her. Too bad, she's terrific....

Not a fan of this guy, but this track grooves real good. Still sounds great....

This one samples a cool song from the 80s. Still sounds good.....

Ok, finishing up here. Wow, no one else posted. I'm sure there are plenty of good cuts from the 2000s I missed. Anyway, I've got three more. These 3, I've posted them previously - didn't want to be redundant and post them again. However, they still fit the criteria....

Are you gonna be my girl - JET

Your Touch - The Black Keys

Bad Boy 4 Life - The accused one

That's all I've got. Love to hear some others.....

Hey! Sorry for the delay. We were out to dinner. 😊

While I regard most post 2000 songs with disdain there are a few that I like and Evanescence's Bring Me to Life is definitely one of them. It might even be my favorite of them all. It is a song that has personal and special meaning to me.

We're about to start watching Dracula so I'll just put one song in for tonight and I might add more tomorrow. This is another of my favorite post 2000 songs and it's truly a shame she died so young because I think she had such a unique sound and so much more to offer.

reply

Yeah we're on base with Evanescence. I think the girl, I have to look her up...

Amy Lee is her name - love her voice. As far as I know, she seems to have faded away. Surprising - very talented singer.

Yeah, your other track, can't join you. It did cross my mind, I listened to it while I was working out last night - didn't sound good to me now. Still, thank you for posting it.

And thanks for joining in - yeah, if you've got more, great, post em up, I'd love to take a listen.

reply

I've tried to come up with more songs that I truly liked between 2000 and 2010 and there just are not that many. I did like this one though when it came out, but I'm not sure if it's still holds up now or not. I think that's very subjective to the listener.

reply

Oh yes, please 4L - only post what you truly like. See what I did, is I was thinking of songs while I was exercising - at which time the blood is pumping , the heart is pumping, you may not be thinking clearly, but you are thinking rapidly.

So, songs were flowing thru my head, then, when I took breaks to breathe, I'd listen to them to see what they sounded like now. There were a lot of rejections, LOL.

" I think that's very subjective to the listener."

Right exactly - this is the key, songs that were released in the decade of the 2000s - do they sounds good to you right now??? I betcha you'd come up with some you like now if you felt like giving it some thought. IF not, thank you for what you did post.

Danger (Been So Long) is a great pick. I don't listen to much rap and I really like it.

reply

Yeah, still sounds good. Alive and funky. Glad you liked it. Thanks.

Thanks for the posts.

I liked Kylie - her track still sounds pretty good.

Britney sounds very aged. Surprised me.

Just my take, thanks again.

reply

That Kylie song was really something at the time.

Not really a fan of these other songs, nor of Kylie, who I guess it would be fair to say was pretty much viewed as finished at the time.

But that was one of those real big defining songs of the era, for me anyway, a bit like Like A Prayer by Madonna.

Always amused me to see it was written by Cathy Dennis, whom I now see also has writing credits on Britney's Toxic and Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl...

Interesting, thanks.

I was getting a bit of a Mazzy Star/The Cranberries vibe from Placebo.

Actually probably not. If you've got any on your mind you'd like to post, great - I'd love to check em out.

Thanks for all the material.

Hadn't heard any of it previously.

A couple of interesting tracks for sure.

Thanks again.

I can understand about Tech Nine and HU as they are favourites of mine but not mainstream but don’t tell me you hadn’t listened to The Eminem Show before?

It’s in my Top 10 best albums ever.

reply

I knew of Eminem when he first came out - which I believe was the late 90s. I remember the SLim Shady bit.

That's about it. Then I found out he was going to be introducing Kamala and Obama - which was stunning to me. Stunning because I didn't even know he was still around.

reply

Hey brother -

I doublechecked. The only cut I know off of "THe Eminem Show" is

"Without Me".

And I only know that one because of the video.

Not putting the guy down, I was just never a fan of his.

ANyway, thanks for posting the tracks.

reply

I appreciate you for taking the time to listen to them.

reply

I could easily post a thousand songs, but I’ll just post the first one that came into my head.

reply

Yeah, we have this one in common. The other night while I was working out, I was trying to think of songs from the 2000s I liked. "Toxic" and "SLave for You" popped into my head (by Britney I mean).

So then I played them for real, and neither worked for me now.

Do you think she still sounds good??

reply

Yeah! Love a bit of Britney.

reply

Never got into Spears, but for some reason I could groove to Toxic.

reply

DRIVE ME CRAZY IS MY SPEARS JAM.

She’s as mad as a box of snakes, but who cares!
