Tonight we will watch "The Thing" (1982) at 7PM ET

As part of our lead-up to Halloween, Mr. Fourlemons and I will start watching it at 7:00 p.m. Eastern US time. Feel free to join in with commentary on your thoughts about the movie if you've seen it before, how you would rate it out of 10, and even watch it along with us if you'd like.

This will be my first time ever watching it.

Missed it. Sorry. I like that movie.

This comment contains spoilers although I think I'm the only one here who had not already seen this movie.

This is my attempt at sounding artistically knowledgeable. πŸ€“ But in all seriousness I kept thinking as I watched this movie that it reminded me of something else. I realized later that it reminded me of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None". (I just went to see that play about a month ago.) Just like in "The Thing", in "And Then There Were None" people die off one by one and everyone is distrusting each other.

I'm now going to sip some Brandy out of a snifter while wearing a velvet jacket. That's as artistic as I'll get today.

I've watched this on Blu Ray probably 10 times in the last 2 months. I love The Asteroids Deluxe Machine in the breakroom where they're all hanging out and wanted that when I 1st saw it. Now I own it

I'm sure you've already checked it out, but the Carpenter/Russell commentary track is top tier as well. The camaraderie and respect is palpable. Just two buddies telling stories and laughing.

My all time favorite horror movie. Followed closely by The Descent (2005).

You are now aware that Doc. Copper had a nose ring. Never noticed it until seeing in HD.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as most here. Did it scare you guys? Was the creeping paranoia palpable? Was that not the best dog acting you've ever seen?

It does seem to be fairly universally loved. It's so damned good on so many levels imo. I have an Outpost #31 t-shirt that no one has ever recognized as a Thing reference, yet...

We watched it at the recommendation of our sons, both of whom loved it and described it as epic. It was well made and full of tension, just the way we like it!

The doggies were very cute, well until...
