This is a subject I am actually passionate about. I got tired of the feeling of peeling off damp cotton moisture-absorbing socks at the end of the day off my barking dogs, so a friend recommended Smartwool socks made of moisture-wicking merino wool back when they weren't crazy expensive, and the difference was night and day. I can be on my feet for sixteen hours or more and my dogs aren't barking so badly.
Of course, any moisture-wicking material or brand should do. Wool socks *can* be thick for cold winters, but there are plenty of regular thickness ones that keep you cool in the summer *and* warm in the winter. They last way longer over wears/washes than cotton as well. Will never go back to cotton again.
And I got all kinds: no show, crew and knee high in all kinds of patterns/colors including Sriracha.
