Finally watching "Threads" right now

We'll see how it goes!

An uncompromising vision of post-nuclear hell and hellscape.

Uncompromising is a good word for it which is exactly what it should be with this subject matter.

I have finished watching it. It is hard to even know what to say this soon after it. Right now I'll just say these 2 things:

1.This is far more a documentary than a disaster movie. It may be fiction, but it feels like a brutally accurate prediction of a post-nuclear war world. No matter what contingiency plans governments may have, no one is ready.
2. Every ruler of every nation with nuclear weapons should be required to watch this.

reply

Have you stopped thinking about since you saw it?

I saw it maybe 5 years ago for the first time and it was imprinted in my consciousness for weeks afterwards 😳

reply

I've thought back to it a few times. I think having seen Chernobyl maybe softened the blow although this was much harder to watch than Chernobyl.

reply

How about that -

I'm cruising MC - and it keeps happening that what interests me are your posts.

Anyway, yeah "Threads" - terrific. Actually better than "The Day After" in terms of what will probably really happen in the future post nuclear war.

reply

Someone definitely needs to be forewarned before watching this (which I was). It shouldn't be entered into like watching a movie but rather to be educated on the reality of what would happen if our world engaged in nuclear war. What is sad is that I had never heard of it before joining this message board and I think a lot more people should watch it as difficult as it is to see.

reply

I did warn you, lol.

reply

Yes you (and ColumboKate) did! 😉

reply

Threads and The Day After traumatized a whole generation. Scariest movies ever in my opinion.

reply

The Day After offered hope at the end - this does not 😬

reply

The end is what haunted me more than anything else in that movie.

reply

Basically, we’re all screwed!

reply

Yes - exactly!
