Even in our troubled and imperfect world, I still tend to find BEAUTY and FASCINATING stuff.

And in CINEMA even with or at least DESPITE their presence of, and at times even extreme, VIOLENCE and other taboo-related material of one variety or another, albeit, there ARE exceptions of course, and as a FILM FAN, I tend to be taken and absorbed by it all.

But that's mostly indeed just me except I suspect I am not the only one.

Even documentaries on stuff like Hitler and WW2 I can appreciate and even enjoy for their disturbing and aesthetic beauty, but of course I will never ever say anything in defense of Hitler among other related varieties.

Anyone else feel this way, and is it entirely natural and NORMAL, thank you.

P.S. Yes, I did have people complain and express frustration at the fact that I can even be at times simultaneously happy and worried and sad, but I think if you really give it a thought you would understand it, and its nothing too out of this world and not my "preference" either. I AM just a little bit too much of a SENSITIVE guy in general. And ever since childhood, never learned to be calm in the face of any pressure and failures and misfortunes, i.e. at school, with family, in modern times on the internet (and PLEASE forgive me THERE folks) etc. Heck, I even wanted to or felt at times like analysing not just existent problems but POTENTIAL ones as well. And I even was worried what folks MIGHT think of me following this or that. Ah, but then if no worries, I went about enjoying life like cars, infrastructure, my own room, TV and bed, FAVORITE FOOD among other things, oh well. HOW ABOUT YOU, cheers. :)

Anyone else feel this way and share my mentality here?

I find you to be a depressing individual with your topics as though you're lonely sitting there with a bottle of JB playing a Country song backwards in getting your wife back, your house back, your car back etc and a revolver sitting in front of you with one bullet in it?? Am I close or totally off?? I honestly don't think I've ever encountered you in any discussions on movies or dare I say, the taboo word at GD, Politics?? 🤔

reply

You're welcome but I am not so much officially "depressed" as a bit naive, into wishful thinking and generally a bit sensitive.

Haha, you took that joke about getting yor wife back, your house back, playing a record backwards, from a scene in "Nil by Mouth" (1997) movie, right?

I've been on PLENTY of MOVIE related boards here and in fact over 70% of my threads and topics here are very much CINEMA related.

Been occasionally at a Political board too but don't have much new to say there. Not sure what is a "GD taboo word" mate. :)

Actually, I had remembered a comedian from a long time ago mentioning it, it might've been Roseanne?? Here on GD, you never mention the word "Politics" or you'll get a tongue lashing

reply

Maybe in Nil By Mouth it was borrowed from that comedian or vice versa.
