Stevie Nicks is 76 Years Old

I didn't see her on Saturday Night Live.

That has to be record age for a pop star on SNL.

Steve Martin and Robert DeNiro are older, but were they older than 76 when they were on the show?

Yeah I saw a page like that, I just think there's something different about a young pop star, solo or part of a band, as opposed to actors/comedians/etc.

Nicks became a star in 1975, 49 years ago.

I don't know many bands from 49 years before 1975 (SNL's first season.) That would be 1934.

I know the Andrews Sisters, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy was 1941, 34 years before 1975.

I think it's interesting, to put things in perspective. I get it that SNL was created for young people, they're not going to want to watch the Andrews Sisters in 1975...

This is why I go to see as many gigs as I can. In 10 years time all my heroes will be gone ☹️

reply

The majority of people I've seen in concert in the last 15 years are in their 70s and '80s.

I didn't bother watching her on SNL either.

Can she still do it?

I've always tended to agree with Grace Slick.

She said people over 50 should not be on stage singing rocknroll.

Well, in fact, all the stars of my day are in their 70s now - a lot of them still on stage. I think the Stones (what's left of them anyway) may even be in their 80s. Paul and Ringo still go out on stage, 82 and 84 to be exact.

I suppose if you can still do it, and people are still willing to pay to watch you do it, why not?
