Favorite brand mascot

Mine was Dig'em the frog from Sugar Smacks (later Honey Smacks) cereal.

He was cool and green. And the cereal was good, too!

Who is yours?

reply

Mr. Clean.

I appreciate his worth ethic.

reply

That's a good one, although that picture makes him look like he's ready for a retirement home.

reply

Exposure to all those cleaning solvents comes with a price.

reply

True, though I'm not sure what it says about his product! πŸ˜‚

Good question, I don't think I can narrow it down to one, but the first thing that came to mind was Pillsbury Doughboy.

He does make an awfully cute noise when you poke him in the stomach. 😁

My fave cereal mascot was Cap'n Crunch, and to this day I can't go a year without purchasing at least one box, or pouch ($1.25).

People of a certain age (I'm 65) will remember Qusip vs. Quake. I liked Quake.

I am familiar with Quisp though I never ate that cereal, but I am not familiar with Quake.

Cap'n Crunch and I however go way back. He would easily be in my top 10 mascots and I, too, occasionally allow myself the nostalgic enjoyment of a bowl, which still tastes delicious to me.

Quisp has had a few revivals, but not Quake, which is probably why most people never heard of it.

Count Chocula

reply

Count Chocula is probably the most badass mascot, and I'd put him as #2 on my list. As a child my mother rarely bought it, but I could talk my dad into it. 😁

reply

Norm Macdonald's favorite!

Poppin' Fresh the Pillsbury Doughboy! He's so adorable!

reply

Two votes for the Pillsbury Doughboy! He is awfully lovable.

Rich Uncle Pennybags I guess; specifically, his appearance on this particular Chance card, which I've always thought was funny:

About 8 years ago I scanned that Chance card, manually traced it in Adobe Illustrator, then silkscreened it onto an orange T-shirt (about the same color as Chance cards):

And this is what it looks like now, 8 years later:

Ooh, that's a good one! And one of the only non-food ones in this thread.

You did a great job with that t-shirt!

Chester The Cheetah

reply

Count Chocula is the most badass and Chester is the coolest.

reply

Agreed.

reply

Tony the Tiger until they roided him up. Now he looks creepy and off-putting.

reply

That's interesting. I didn't even realize how much he had changed over the years. I just Googled it though and see what you mean. I guess they want to give the appearance of Frosted Flakes making you strong and healthy which is pretty funny since it's full of sugar.
