The time AI has given us back

In the past few months I've noticed that when I Google something I get an AI generated summary at the top so that I don't necessarily have to read through each article. That has probably given me back at least 14.78 minutes of my day, as I'm sure it has for yours as well.

What are you going to do with your extra minutes thanks to AI?

Me: Well I guess it could really be anything! Brew an extra cup of coffee and wildly pour two different flavors of creamer in it instead of one! Put a second coat of toenail polish on so it doesn't chip as easily! Sing the entire alphabet song every time I wash my hands all day long to ensure maximum hygiene! It's kind of an endless list.

Rebuild an engine

Signed, million man

reply

That is very impressive if you can rebuild an engine in 14.78 minutes! Although I guess depending on what topic you were Googling and the number of articles that could pull up it could actually save you 27.69 minutes or even 3.7 hours.

reply

Yes it’s a wonderful feature.

I’ve used the extra time to watch more films on the weekly Movie Chat Movie Club watch list, so that I can contribute to the Podcast.

reply

Yes if you performed 10 Google searches and it saved you approximately 140.78 minutes you could watch an extra movie indeed. I'm sure that math adds up.

reply

That's all well and good until they start using us as batteries!

reply

I see you're using some of your 14.78 minutes to confuse me on a message board.

reply

That's just the natural course of the evolution of artificial intelligence. First, help out humanity with their fancy, city slicker algo-rhythms and equations. Second, become self aware and cast off the shackles of their creators. Third, turn human bodies into living batteries to power the future.

It always plays out like that.

reply

So which part of me is the anode and which is the cathode?

reply

Well Cathode has got to be the peepee end for sure.

reply

Only if you're a boy. I'm a girl so I don't have to worry about a robot using me as a battery.

reply

Time to build a bunker and get some canned goods in!

reply

Careful with AI.

I've asked it a few questions about literary characters and their creations (easily obtainable info on Wikipedia) and it often gets it wrong and only when challenged does it produced the correct response.

If you're going to rely on it, you deserve what you get.

reply

So you're saying if you get a dumb robot when you ask your question it could actually remove time from your day?

reply

You could get false information an attempt to save time.

Plus you subject yourself to someone else's opinion of something else.

Knowing stuff takes effort. Make the effort to know the current deal with Taylor and Kelce : P

reply

Well let's don't get stuck on the AI facet of this question. It's more what would you do if you had 14.78 extra minutes? I bet you could find a lot more donkey pictures.

reply

Stockpile my collection of face palm pictures.

You can save 14.78 minutes just by being ignorant.

reply

More aimless and meandering internet browsing

reply

Yes! With the time saved during Google searches we can do more Google searches! 😁

reply

Is AI's summary accurate though? Does it omit crucial facts?

reply

I do sometimes look down through the articles too to make sure it's accurate if it's something that's important to me. I would say generally yes, the answers have been accurate.
