Is Oasis anyone's favorite band?

I keep getting hit left and right with news and videos about the Oasis reunion like this is something I care about. I don't recall ever listening to their songs on demand anywhere and probably heard more than the recommended dose of covers and karaoke versions of wonderwall.

Does this band mean anything to you? Have you ever listened to their discography?

I just remember disliking intensely the attitude of the vocalist

reply

I enjoy three songs.

But that's all.

reply

At this very moment wonderwall is the only one I can think of lol

reply

I like how articles make it sound like they were the greatest thing since the Beatles and I bet not more than a handful of people can name more than one of their songs.

Until Adele came along, What's the Story (Morning Glory) was the biggest selling album in the UK since Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

They may not have been the greatest thing since The Beatles, but they were the biggest thing since The Beatles in the UK. And they did have a claim at one point on being the biggest band in the world.

They never broke America. Americans can probably only name one song (Wonderwall was their only significant hit in the USA). But they were pretty successful in other Anglophone countries, and also in continental Europe and Japan and even parts of South America.

The USA is 4.23% of the world's population. So, no, more than a handful of people can name more than one Oasis song. Just not in your neck of the woods.

reply

It's America or bust.

'Murica

reply

Fuck yeah.

Coming to save the motherfucking day.

Sort of. You'd best watch out when they come to save the day though.

Not my favourite band nor did I particularly listen to them much over the past twenty years. However got caught in the wave of excitement primarily due to FootOfDavros Jnr and so we landed up getting tickets for the mass sing-along when it happens...

reply

They're a generic band who play mediocre music. That's doesn't mean they suck, they're just stock.

Everyone and their brother listens to them in the UK. A phenom here but not so much elsewhere

reply

Didn't say they suck, but I certainly disliked the lead singer's attitude

reply

Sorry, I meant that I myself didn't think they sucked completely despite their music being boring and uninspiring. They were a lot better than other britpop bands like Blur.

I was hanging out with a girl once and she was listening to Oasis. Out of nowhere she asked me if I wanted to fuck her in the ass.

That pretty much sums up my opinion of the band.

reply

I'll be on the lookout for those babes listening to oasis then 🤣👍

They're not my favourite, but their album "Don't Believe The Truth" came out during my musical awakening, so to speak.
I listened to it extensively, and discovered some of their earlier material. I like Noel (and his songs) better.
A handful of their tunes that I dig: Live Forever, Champagne Supernova, Acquiesce, Songbird, Part of the Queue, The Importance of Being Idle, Stop Crying Your Heart Out...
Oh, and I'm from East-Central Europe.
