What are your 3 favorite British bands????

Pretty easy on this one for me.

Instead of naming the band, I'll post a fave for each one to make it more fun.......

Excited for other takes........

reply

Only 3? I could go 30 easily.

reply

Sure, as could I...

Try to pick your top three.

Unless of course you're not sure.

I'm sure on my bands, but, some close calls...

The WHo, Pink Floyd, Queen - they're all in the mix.

Anyway, yeah, if you can come up with three faves, that'd be great.

reply

In that case:

Led Zeppelin
Cream
Dr. Feelgood

reply

Great - thank you.

Dr. Feelgood?

Hhhmmm, that's out of the box.

I know the song by Motley Crue, don't know the band.

I'll have to check them out.

reply

The Beatles
The Police
Queen

reply

I could probably do a Top 250, but here’s 3: -

ELO
Led Zeppelin
The Who

reply

Yeah, ELO, another great British band.

They had a nice run from the mid 70s to early 80s.

Excellent choices.

reply

I don't see One Direction here.

reply

How could I forget?

reply

ELO are great but isn't it really a bit of stretch to call them a "band". Wasn't It basically Jeff Lynne and whomever?

10cc was a stronger band in terms of musicians...

reply

Yes, Jeff Lynne was the genius behind the band and has been a major factor in other artists’ successes as a writer and a producer.

Yes, 10cc were amazing and would definitely be in my Top 10.

reply

I have a CD of 10cc Early Years which is tremendous. Rubber Bullets, The Dean & I, etc... Was a good discovery back when I primarily knew them for I'm Not In Love.

Eldorado is my favourite ELO LP...

reply

I have all the 10cc albums, including all the solo stuff and also the Godley and Crème albums and have seen them live many times; all excellent artists and songwriters 👍

reply

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones

I had to leave out some greats I consider neck and neck, but I'm going by what bands I prefer to listen to at the moment, despite past rankings

reply

The Fall
Clinic
The Delgados

Heh, saw Siouxsie open for New Order in my college days. Was crowd surfing and the tide carried me towards the stage where I fell like a sack of potatoes to the ground from 7-8' high. No sooner had I picked myself up, miraculously unhurt, when I realized I was in the no-go buffer zone between the crowd and the stage. Before I knew it, a security guard had a hold of me and propelled me out some side gate outside of the venue, despite my protestations that I had no agency in where I had landed. Was bummed for a minute until a fellow fan who had walked out under their own volition did the old "lick and transfer the back of the hand stamp trick" which was good enough to get me back in. Good times.

reply

Fantastic story right there!!

reply

:D As much as loved them (wore out a cassette of Nocturne) it's the first thing I think of when Siouxsie is mentioned. Oddly enough, I poo-pooed Duran Duran at the time for being "too poppy," but their songcraft has only grown on me over the years.

reply

Great story!

reply

:D Frankly, when I think about it, it's a miracle I'm still alive. My dad got me started on guns, fireworks and motorcycles young, and nobody wore seatbelts in the 70s, and was a latchkey kid and rode my bike all over in NYC when it was still scummy. Even did a summer stint as a bike messenger. Still ride my bicycle in L.A. traffic, but finally gave up urban motorcycling ten years ago; got sick of weekly near-death misses.

reply

I don’t know Siouxsie And The Banshees as well as I should but based on the video they seem to really dig Gustav Klimt which means I should check them out👍

reply

This is a great album to start with.
