All fun aside, I tried it once out of pure curiosity and was underwhelmed, but I realize that many foods are loved based on culture or just what we're raised with. Probably the largest concentration of SPAM consumers is Hawaii and other Pacific islanders who received SPAM from the Feds during the war years. For many people, it was the only meat they were getting, and they grew to love it.
For instance in the mainland U.S, Hershey's chocolate is loved by many because we were raised on it. My wife absolutely loves Hershey's but I'd rather a good dark 60-65% chocolate from one of the several local quality chocolatiers near me.
