Can You Guess Which European Country Has Highest Tourist Population?

Which European country has the highest ratio of tourists to nontourists?

I would never have guessed the right answer.

I thought it was another small country in Europe, however the answer is a bit surprising.

I think the story in the OP is BS.

There is a "country" in Europe with an official population of 497... the main tourist destination there "during the high season, which runs from April to June, can see between 20,000 and 30,000 visitors per day."

I don't think there are any hotel rooms there...

Monaco probably has hotel rooms but its population is 38k and only gets about 2,000 visitors a day...

Vatican City🇻🇦

That's my guess. I didn't research Liechtenstein...

As of 2023, Vatican City had a population of 764 residents, regardless of citizenship. There were also 372 Vatican citizens residing elsewhere. Under a km square. - wikipedia

that'd be my guess

France and Spain.

France - the jewel of the Western world.

I've been reading about backlash in Barcelona so I guessed Spain (wrong). Also, the story uses a resident to tourist ratio, not an absolute number of tourists. So I think the title of the thread is misstated (correctly stated in the OP).

My sister-in-law and niece planned a trip there and were going to go to the Swift concert - but that was cancelled because of the terrorist plot.
