New Year's Eve 1970 I was 10 years old.

I remember
Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific (and Milk Plus 6, Prell)
Pet Rock (and Kalsø Earth Shoes)
Clackers
8-Track Tapes (we never had a car equipped with a player)
Lawn Darts
Billy Beer (I have no memory at all what it tasted like. For years people thought the cans would become valuable.)
Nerf products
Mexican Jumping Beans
Tang (I may have only tried it once)
Sea Monkeys (from comic book ads)
Simon Says (quickly got tired of it)

This also gets me nostalgic (dismiss 'get adobe flash' pop up)

Aren't lawn darts banned in the US?

reply

I think so, since people were injured.

reply

My daughter has a set.

reply

That's because the UK trusts people not to poke their eye out.

reply

I bought them during lockdown, along with a host of other garden & pub games.

I so want to go back to the 70's as a kid all over again just to experience JAWS when it 1st came out and STAR WARS in 76

reply

back when kids went outside.

reply

It shocks me when I see kids jumping rope or playing hopscotch today, since it is a rarity

reply

yeah, and its also strange that you will never see kids riding bikes too. which is ironic because every Christmas some charity will give away hundreds of bicycles.

reply

I see families riding bikes.

reply

My girls are now 18 and 22 and they both grew up outside all day, and we still ride bikes together often. 😊
