Has anyone seen Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?
I would like to take my 10 year old grandson to a movie this week. He has never seen any of the Planet of the Apes movies, so I'm not sure if that is necessary to enjoy the movie.

shareI took my daughter who will be 10 soon. She had no previous experience of any of the ‘Ape’ films and, although I found it slow moving at times, she absolutely loved it and has expressed a wish to see more of them.
I’m sure he’ll have a blast!
Part 2 and 3 are bangers. (No mash, which needs to be said before you make the joke)
Saw part one on a bus trip recently & honestly, it's way better than I remember it being.
It's such a good start & set up to the reboot films.
It's good, but I think the following two are great. I'm looking forward to part 4.
shareYa, I just meant that I always, personally, wrote that one off as the "meh" entry in the trilogy.
But nah, it's genuinely a freaking good movie. Glad I got a chance to rewatch it.
Kingdom is as good as part 3 but not quite as good as Dawn imo.
Great - then that's what we will see this week.
Thanks!
Has she seen "If" yet?
Not yet, but recently we’ve seen: -
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - again, a bit slow in parts, but she enjoyed it (she’s seen all the Ghostbusters films).
Godzilla X Kong - I was unsure if she’d like this, as I’ve always thought of it as more of a boys thing, however, she loved it and wants to see more Kong films.
Have you seen Godzilla Minus One?
shareNot yet - any good?
shareIt's great. It's great to see an actual good Godzilla movie in Japanese. You daughter may not like it because it's not like there's wall-to-wall action, but I think you'll like it. It's probably better than the original 1954 version. And there's an Asian babe in there for most of the movie.
shareOn my list 👍
shareJust to save you some head-scratching, don't bothering trying to make sense of the title. No one knows what the hell it means.
Anyway, if your daughter is okay with subtitles and a lot of dramatic scenes, she'll like it too. There's definitely enough action still in it.
Japan is at zero after the bomb. Godzilla drives them into negative territory, less than zero, minus 1.
shareI had this discussion on this thread:
https://moviechat.org/tt23289160/Gojira-10/664aa590f0812c40807b814f/Why-the-title-Minus-1
My problem with it is that it should be titled "Japan -1" then.
Need Big G's name in the title to sell it.
But anyway, some do know why the heck that's the title, b/c they read the director's comments regarding it.
