🎥MovieChat MovieClub Event: Friday/Saturday Features #51 🍿

This weekend we have 2 different birthday parties for my son, one Friday evening and another Saturday afternoon. I’m already tired just thinking about it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to last long enough to chill with the club and watch movies.

Also, note that Next weekend, we celebrate the MCMC’s anniversary.

This Movie Party will allow two things to happen:

-people will be able to watch the same movie at the same time and interact here
-people will be able to have common movies to watch over the weekend and share reviews on my other weekly thread.

Event #1 - Friday night, May 24th 9PM Eastern time (if you want to watch live) and event closes Sunday at 9PM (if you haven’t been able to watch live and want to share reviews in the weekly thread.)

Signed, million man

reply

DUDE...THAT IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS...LIKE TOP TEN.

reply

I'm in for tonight, but that first movie looks really weird.

reply

Reading your comments should make it even better!

reply

YAY!...WE MISSED YOU LAST NIGHT.

reply

I'm watching the rest of species and I can't help but think that the final showdown in the sewer is exactly what the TV series "It" needed

reply

I found the ending of It to be a bit anticlimactic as well but it was a great story.

I read the book twice, saw the original TV movie twice and watched the excellent two part remake also.

I guess it was mostly about sort of nerdy damaged kids overcoming their traumas vs. an evil demon.

I liked it a lot. There was a prime time from the early 1970s-late 1980s when every kid, girl and boy, had a bike and Mom told you not to come home until the streetlights came on.

BB Guns, bicycles, footballs, frisbees, bows and arrows…We were the last feral kids😄

reply

Yep. I remember spending weeks from home at my friend's farm. We did chores like pucking rocks, milking cows, feeding chickens, etc..

After a while I'd co.e home and my mom would say, Where were you this morning?

I'd let her know I was at the farm and she'd be like, oh... okay. Clean your room.

It was a different time before the turn of the century.

reply

Yeah, we were tough kids in the 80s and 90s. We drove with NO license, started drinking early, fist fights were common (WTF is ‘bullying?’You just fought the fucker!)) and walked straight into situations that should have killed me. Yet here we are😄

We had guns all over the house and if you got in a fight you better finish it! Your Dad would whip your ass if you didn’t give a proper account of yourself.

I was a feral but well meaning asshole as a kid, violence and car stunts were quite common but I’m raising sheltered wimps from experience.

I don’t want my kids doing the dumb stuff I did.

reply

Part of me agrees with you, but then there is a part of me that thinks that one thing lacking in a lot of younger people's lives is learning risk assessment from a young age. Now I'm not condoning all the stupid shit we did, but when you consider how many times we can look back and wonder how we are still alive, I think we did okay. I think that one lives in a way where they are prevented from hurting themselves, they don't learn what will hurt them.

reply

I'd love to see Starship Troopers and Tremors On the list of to be watched😃

reply

BOTH AMAZING MOVIES...I SECOND BOTH OF THOSE CHOICES.
