If you're talking about adoption, you want to match the natural pattern as close as possible. We're designed to have role models of both sexes in early childhood.
It's not "case by case" when you're trying to establish the best model on which to base adoption policy.

To lump all straight parents together is ridiculous. There are shitty parents everywhere. There are also really great parents everywhere. That goes for parents who conceive naturally, and ones who adopt. Each individual is different.
While your case doesn't seem to be the status quo, I know more than one family where the Dad is the "main" parent (sorry I can't think of a better term at the moment) as Mom either couldn't be bothered, or just isn't a good mother. share
