shareIt's called Artex, for some reason it was fashionable in the 1970s and often contained asbestos.
My house was built in the 1970s and a few rooms still have Artex ceilings, makes a place look dated.
I think they used that because in old houses the ceilings would crack, and that would hide it.

I also have texture on my ceiling, but this is mindboggling. I've never seen that before in my life.
