How much are you comfortable spending on a smart phone? I don't want to spend more that $200-$250. I really find it hard to believe that some folks will spend as much as $1000.

shareI spent $300 or so for a new Samsung Galaxy A23 5G phone a few months ago. This is a really nice phone and does everything I want and then some. I don't need a thousand dollar phone to do the same things I can do on this phone. βοΈ I don't if you have ever used a Samsung but they make really nice phones for every budget.
shareActually, I have a Samsung right now. It's a Galaxy A21. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's too big. I'd like something a bit smaller - under 6" in length.
shareMax $200-250 for me.
Bought a Samsung Galaxy A20 in 2019 for around $150. In 2022, bought an A32 5g for around $180. Still use my deactivated A20 for browsing & as a backup. I really see no point in spending $1k on a phone.
I don't remember when I bought my current phone, but my guess is about 3 years ago. Β―\_(γ)_/Β― I like it except for its size - too big. I want something I can shove in my back pocket and it won't stick out so much. All the smaller phones seem to be iPhones, and I don't want anything Apple.
I will never spend $1000 on a phone. I think I spent about $150, but maybe as much as $180, on my current phone.
I still have a flip phone and quite frankly, don't care to have a Smartphone, not because I don't appreciate the Technology and all, it's just that people are simply too addicted to them to the point where it's turned me off to ever owning one.. Sue me
shareWhatever you say, grandpa.
shareI'm actually toying with the idea of going back to a flip phone.
shareI also have a flip phone. I spend so much time on the computer at home that a smartphone seems unnecessary.
shareOh, I do understand this. Too much screen time on smart phones by many folks. It's extremely rare that I would do anything on my smart phone except make phone calls, text, or snap a photo - and even photos are rare.
shareMy current iPhone 12 cost about $800.
Goddam highway robbery but here we are.
I agree. Highway robbery. π
shareMy wife and I both have iPhone 14 Pros - this is through the business, so technically Iβm not paying for them. Although we can upgrade annually, I tend to do every other one, as itβs too much of a faff* getting all the data across (itβs not as easy as they claim).
Our daughter gets one of the old ones when we upgrade (we give the others away to my wifeβs family). Sheβs 9 and I swear she knows more about the technology than me, lol.
*Faff - (Britain, slang) To waste time on an unproductive activity.
She faffed about so much, she never got to eat her breakfast.
I decided to stop faffing about and get some work done.
I would not spend more than β¬ 200. At the end of the day, I make a couple of calls, maybe some pictures from time to time an every smart phone has a calender function.
My private smart phone is also a Samsung Galaxy something.
"A Samsung Galaxy something"
I get it. When things have model numbers, I find it impossible to remember what it is. Same thing with cars. Names are better, in my opinion.
It happens to me with the smart phones because it is not really important to me....related to the cars...that is another history π
By the way, merry Christmas to you too ππ
I know there's a lot of criticism about spending on iphones... but I buy either every year or every other year a brand new iphone pro max... they do give a good $ back on trade-in, so it's not really +1000... you only end up paying like half... I can afford to spend $500 x year on a new phone... not a big issue.
This year besides the trade in my sister also had a $150 Apple Gift Card she got when she bought her laptop for college, which she gave me because she was not planning on purchasing anything else... so it was even better.
I guess it depends upon who your carrier is.
shareI have never & will hopefully never spend $1000 plus on a phone.
I only buy Samsung's mid range phones. And they're genuinely fantastic. Worth every penny.
My faves are the A50 & A70 series. The A30s are pretty good as well.
