I got bored today and built a shoddy cover for the hell portal.

Mel’s Hole lol

That cover looks good actually.

reply

I didn't know anything about Mel's hole. I don't think my shoddy cover would do any good. Lol.

This is 5 Hours long and well worth a listen if you have the time.. I'm a big fan of this show along with George Noory too

reply

HEY!...YOU LEAVE MEL OUT OF THIS!,ASSHOLE.

R.I.P. VICTOR TAYBACK.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to say I didn't get the reference and had to look that up. I do remember watching reruns of Alice as a little kid though.

THE MORE YOU KNOW.💫

reply

Nice! It's good to keep things covered for winter. I have the same basic little pit, an easy build and fun to use.
We get ice and snow here so I wrap mine in a plastic tarp to keep the blocks from working loose.

reply

WHY DO YOU GUYS HAVE "PITS"?🤔

reply

I'd like to speak to an attorney...

reply

To show friends

reply

THAT IS EXACTYLY WHAT I WAS THINKING WHEN I ASKED!🤣

reply

That’s the one with the messed up kid! Lol

reply

I had fun with build. I drilled a fire ring to attempt to make it smokeless. Big fail.

I had to pull it apart today and remove about 60 LBS of junk from it. It's next to our sledding hill, so hopefully we can have a fire while we watch our nieces and nephews biff it.

reply

I used several spacer bricks to make 'vents' in the base row of blocks to allow an updraft and carry the smoke high up and away. This partially worked but not a perfect solution.

I feel like I'm always sitting where the smoke is directly blowing no matter what I do lol.
I guess it's just part of outdoor wood burning.

well done

The Devils Throat. You'll know what I mean if you've seen Cold Creek Manor.

reply

THE DEVIL'S THROAT SOUND LIKE A FILM ANDYKING WOULD ENJOY.

reply

What! Why?

reply

😆

reply

I live in the suburbs. I have no clue what's that?

reply

Is the cover hinged for storage?

reply

The cover is meant for new OPs...err..."hell portals". 😈

Aren't you just busy with "posters" of various movies?

reply

The hell portals are more important. 😀

reply

Why cover a fire pit though? I think they look rather charming.

reply

I live in Minnesota. We have a long snowy cold winter ahead. By covering it, it should reduce snow and debris from filling it.

We have friend's kids, nieces, and nephews who sled the hill next to the pit. By keeping it covered, we can open it up and set a fire for the kids and us adults to warm ourselves by it.

reply

YOUR PLACE SOUNDS AWESOME!...I WANNA SLED AND WARM BY THE FIRE ON THE HILL...DAMN.

reply

Just wait. I'm looking to install a grate that swings over it to make hot chocolate and coffee on it.

reply

Certainly you'll take many photos of it. ☼

reply

Okay, thanks for the insight. I'm from Southern California so it's foreign to me.

Are you rural or in the city?

reply

Rural.

reply

👍

reply

i thought it was a well.

reply

what's that Lassie' the army man has timmy trapped and covered in a well

reply

That's not lassie. Lassie went in before Timmy. That's how it was so easy 😉
